To Achieve Maximum Energy Savings at Minimum Cost
Farmingdale, NY – Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, serving residents of Houston, Texas, embarked on a lighting retrofit to replace outdated fixtures in the parking garage. In search for the most effective lighting solution to achieve maximum energy savings at minimum cost, the retrofit team decided on LaMar Lighting DV Series enclosed vapor and dust-proof luminaires with high-frequency (HF) sensors.
The DV Series consist of high-quality fluorescent luminaires specifically designed for long-term, element-prone installations. They feature internal steel geartray enclosed in durable fiberglass, permanent paint finishes, superior electrical components and wide-distribution reflectors engineered specifically for parking garage applications. Optional HF motion sensors are completely enclosed within fixtures and help cut down on the energy use when the space is unoccupied.
“The original design included fluorescent fixtures and a relay panel system with integrated occupancy and daylight sensors. The system was designed to switch fixtures on or off based on occupancy and available daylight,” said Isaac Ehly with CW Lighting & Associates, who assisted with selection of lighting fixtures for the project. “With LaMar Lighting DV Series we were able to eliminate the need for the lighting relay panel by integrating the sensor technology directly into the fixture.”
300 DV Series surface-mount units were installed at the parking garage quickly and easily, a key benefit for the contractor. The revised design with LaMar Lighting fixtures contributed to the straightforward installation because the contractor did not have to run low-voltage cables to sensors in the pre-cast concrete and zone the fixtures in the panels. This allowed the total material and labor cost to be less than the cost of the original proposed design and sped up the installation.
